LONG BIKE COURSE: 53.8 miles, 6584′ climbing
Gravel backroads, steep canyons, and singletrack.
This course defines the ‘Boulder County Epic’
A brand new (and super fun) format for 2017! The course will contain 3 timed segments, with the rest of the course untimed allowing you to ride with friends, at whatever pace you like! The course will begin with a neutral roll-out of Boulder, climbing up Sunshine Canyon. Gravel begins on Co Rd 83 with a climb up to the 1st Aid Station. The 1st timed section is a 2 mile section of single track, going downhill on the Rowena trail. The smooth pavement of Lefthand Canyon will take you up to the next section of gravel: Sawmill Rd. The scenic and breathtaking Switzerland Trail is your next timed section with 8.6 miles or uphill and then downhill. You’ll have 2 chances to get refreshed and fill up on CLIF products and NUUN hydration at the Switzerland Trail/Gold Hill Rd Aid Station. Then cruise into historic Gold Hill and get ready for the final timed section, a .3 mile sprint up to the top of Sunshine Canyon. The final 10 miles are untimed and a great chance to enjoy the views as you descend Sunshine Canyon all the way back to North Boulder Park. A cold Oskar Blues beer and fresh tacos await you at the finish line!
